Militant, cop killed in JK encounter
A militant and a policeman were reportedly killed in a fierce gunbattle in South Kashmir on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip off, 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), along with Jammu and Kashmir Police, laid a siege of Dar Mohalla, Tral and as soon as they tried to enter the house of one Javid Akbar Shiekh, the militants present in the house fired indiscriminately, injuring a police officer critically.
Eyewitnesses told IBNS that two army jawans were also injured during the gun fight.
According to unconfirmed reports, a police sub inspector, Stenzin Norbo and a militant from Hizb outfit Sajad Ahmed had been killed.
The gunfight was on when reports last came in.
