Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday protested before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh the Income Tax Department?s notice to the state government over MoUs signed during Vibrant Gujarat Summit.
Modi called on Singh at the Circuit House here when the prime minister was on a visit to participate in the annual convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Management here, reports said.
The chief minister protested against the IT Department?s move and was reportedly supported by Singh in his concerns.
The IT department had last month sought details on the close to 8,000 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), promising investment of over Rs 20 lakh crore, singed during the Summit in January.
The state government had expressed its displeasure over the act, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accusing that Gujarat was being targeted since the Congress, that ruled in the Centre, sat in the Opposition in the state.
