The Opposition stepped up its attack against the UPA government with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Nitin Gadkari on Friday slamming Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 2G spectrum allocation scam at the ?Ekta Sankalp rally? here.
Gadkari also demanded a resignation from the Prime Minister in connection with the 2G scam on moral grounds.
?The Prime Minister should form the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) and answer our questions. And if you (PM) cannot answer our questions, then you should step down from your post on moral grounds,? he said.
At least 70 top BJP leaders, including party chief Nitin Gadkari, LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley- Leaders of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha-respectively, former party presidents Rajnath Singh and Murli Manohar Joshi, along with Chief Ministers of all the BJP ruled States were present at the rally.
BJP leaders are expected to discuss their future strategy on JPC probe into the 2G scam, corruption, price rise and Kashmir issue and the exercise undertaken by the Central interlocutors with an aim to find a political settlement of the issue.
BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said: “The whole country knows there is a scam of more than Rs.70,000 crore as far as the Commonwealth Games (CWG) are concerned. But the action of CBI is too little, too late.”
The agency also questioned Raja in Delhi regarding the 2G spectrum scam.
“It is only on the intervention of the Supreme Court that CBI is acting, and we hope that CBI comes out with some concrete evidence,” said Rudy.
