No recent infiltration in J&K: Army

Infiltration bids by terrorists have been hugely unsuccessful since April in Jammu and Kashmir, said a top Indian Army official.

“A large number of attempts have been made since April but to the best of our knowledge they have not succeeded in infiltrating as yet,? said Northern Command?s General Officer Commanding Lieutenant General KT Parnaik.

?There are reports of a few groups having infiltrated already in certain traditional areas, but it will have to be confirmed on ground by us, and by the security agencies and the intelligence agencies,” said Parnaik.

His statement, however, contradicts Chief Minister Omar Abdullah?s claim that around 40 terrorists have infiltrated into the state in April.

“There is credible information to suggest that there have been successful attempts of infiltration in April,? Abdullah had said on May 25.

?The figure has yet to verify by the multi-agency centre in Delhi. So as of now it is provisional but there is an indication that anything between 30-40 terrorists have crossed over and this information was independently provided both by the state intelligence agencies as well as central intelligence agencies,” the CM had said.
