It refers to media-reports about ruling Congress party in Andhra Pradesh coming up with an idea of flooding state-capital Hyderabad with 30 statues of departed Chief Minister YS Rajshekhar Reddy (YSR). Glorification of self or mentors by political rulers should be stopped by Union government by formulating rules to erect any statue either at central level or by state-government only with consent of opposition-leaders. Moreover erecting statues in life-time should be completely banned.
An unhealthy race for erecting statues may sometime create a serious law & order problem apart from wasting public money. Mulayamsingh Yadav is on record to say that if his party regains power in the state, statues erected by Mayawati-government would be uprooted. Union government should also totally ban photo-publicity of political rulers and other living personalities at public-expense through media-advertisements.
