Now, Suresh Kalmadi demands JPC

Tainted Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) former chief Suresh Kalmadi has demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the various financial scandals of the Games blamed on him.

His demand came on a day when the government in New Delhi agreed for a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum scam in the face of mounting opposition demand.

Kalmadi, who is a Congress lawmaker, said he was singled out for the blame and a fair probe will clear his name since various agencies worked for the Games.

“Were the government to agree to constitution of a JPC into the 2G spectrum issue it would only be fair a similar process of Joint Parliamentary Committee should go into the entire range of issues connected with preparations, executions and conduct of the Commonwealth Games. I am confident that this would enable the entire truth to emerge in the public domain,” Kalmadi said in a statement.

“I can vouch that I have not gained financially even a single rupee out of these Games and if proved otherwise, I am prepared to step down as a Member of Parliament,” he said.

Aides of Kalmadi were earlier arrested in the scam.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths recently arrested Sekhar Deorukhkar, the secretary of Suresh Kalmadi.

The arrests are made in the awarding of contracts for overlays at different Games venues at fancy rates, CBI said.

Suresh Deorukhkar is the fifth person to be arrested in the Commonwealth Games scam.

On Jan 18, a businessman, Binu Nanu, was arrested by the CBI for his involvement in the CWG overlay scam.

TS Darbari, M Jayachandran and Sanjay Mohindroo , all aides of Kalmadi, were arrested earlier, but they later got bail.

The CBI earlier raided the homes and offices of the OC officials while Kalmadi himself faces a probe by the federal investigating agency.

Suresh Kalmadi, a Congress MP from Pune, is accused of indulging in various financial scams involving the organization of the Games in Oct 2010.

India faced humiliation before the entire world in the run up to the Games owing to shabby preparations. The Games which, however, concluded without any major hitch and Indian athletes brought several accolades to the nation.

After proving himself Loyal to UPA-2 and not blaming directly about discrimination on subsidy and exposing the Share Holders of LOOT, asking for JPC on CWG is Suresh Kalmadi’s style of Black Mailing PM. If A Raja gets tax-payers money as subsidy on LOOT, why not him? Opposition Politicians must be Jealous of UPA Politicians of having 2 way benefits. [1] Get Subsidy on LOOT [2] Re-route the LOOTED Money to India, pay the tax and walk away.
