Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Friday took a dig at the media for trying to portray the recent comments of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on the security of village representatives as some sort of tussle between the two.
“Have to love the media’s priorities when my imaginary battle with Rahul is more important than what the president says in Kashmir,” Omar posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
The local media in the last three days has been abuzz with reports on a statement by Rahul Gandhi over the mass resignations of Panches and Sarpanches in north Kashmir.
Rahul Gandhi termed the resignations as a serious issue and sought adequate security cover for those who have resigned, according to reports.
A delegation of village representatives met the Congress general secretary in New Delhi Thursday.
Party spokesperson Rashid Alvi told reporters in the capital that Gandhi’s comment should not be seen as ‘Rahul versus Omar’, and the elected village representatives should be given the necessary security.
