It refers to on-going fight in BJP over Vasundhara Raje continuing as opposition-leader in Rajasthan. It is undemocratic that high-commands of most political parties impose leaders on their legislative groups. Election Commission should ensure completely transparent and democratic mode of elections of leaders of legislative groups of various political parties.
Usual rifts in ruling party practically accounts for a Chief Minister in minority. Best is to elect Chief Minister by secret and compulsory vote of all members of the state-assembly through EVMs on nominations signed by at least one-third members. Defeated contestant may automatically get post of Opposition Leader. Such an elected Chief Minister may be removed by same process but with compulsion of naming alternate leader in the same motion. Even Speaker and Deputy Speaker should be elected simultaneously with Chief Minister in the same manner. System will give auto-advantages like fixed-term legislatures, stability of governments, end to corrupt political bargains for ministry-formation, enabling reducing ministerial-strength to one-tenth of legislature-strength as per original recommendations of Administrative Reforms Commission etc apart from having a Chief Minister elected in truly democratic manner representing state-assembly not only for his/her ruling party but also for the opposition.
