Indian troops at the India-Pakistan border in Jammu were subject to heavy firing on Tuesday night from the Pakistani side, as the neighbouring military violated the ceasefire for second time within days, media reports said.
Rocket projectile grenades and small firearms were fired between 7:20 pm and 8:50 pm from Pakistan?s side of the Line of Control.
There were no reports of any casualties in what is being described as one of the heaviest firings of the year in the area. This was the Pakistani side’s second ceasefire violation in three days, reports said.
The Indian army returned fire in the Doda forward area of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, a senior military official was quoted as saying.
