Parliament adjourned over corruption charges

The logjam in Parliament continued for the 11th working day of the Winter Session on Friday, though both the Houses witnessed some moments of calm while remembering the 26/11 Mumbai attack victims.

Calm ws maintained in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha when statements paying tributes were read out.

Chairman Hamid Ansari read out the homage in the Upper House, while Speaker Meira Kumar did it in the Lok Sabha.

The Parliament also observed silence in memory of the victims of the 26/11 terrorist attacks, which killed 166 people and injured close to 400 others.

However, soon after, ruckus broke out with Opposition and Treasury benches exchanging allegations of corruption.

The Opposition persisted with demands for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the 2G Spectrum issue, while the government remained unrelenting.

The Rajya Sabha even witnessed a scuffle between South rivals, DMK and AIDMK, after a DMK member displayed a placard against AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2.30 pm when it will meet to take up private members? business, while the Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day when similar nosiy scenes were repeated when it reassembled at noon after the first adjournment.
