Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has announced a one thousand crore rupees package for flood hit Karnataka.
Earlier he carried out an aerial survey of flood affected 5 districts Raichur, Bijapur, Bagalcot, Kauppal and Gagadab.
He also reviewed the relief measures initiated in the state.
At Raichur, he held a meeting with Karnataka officials to discuss relief work, which would be attended by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Revenue Minister G Karunakara Reddy among others.
On Friday after carrying out a survey of flood affected areas of Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said that the Centre will release one thousand crores rupees as advance towards flood relief in Andhra Pradesh immediately.
Dr. Singh also described the flood devastation in Andhra as a national calamity in its own way.
