Rahul Gandhi slams Nitish over ?Bihari? attack

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday slammed Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar for maintaining silence over attack on Biharis in Maharashtra.

?Why does Nitish Kumar remain silent when Biharis are attacked in Maharashtra?? Gandhi said at an election rally at Barbigha in Sheikhpura district on Wednesday.
?Biharis are being forced to leave the state and go to places like Mumbai, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi to earn their living. Under the present government, Bihar is not at all developing,? the Gandhi scion said.

Reacting to Kumar?s recent claim that Bihar is ?shining? under the JD(U)-BJP government, Gandhi said: ?If that is so, then why do we find so many people from Bihar working as labourers in other cities? Why didn?t they get decent work in their home state??

?Blaming the earlier state governments is easy. But what has the present Bihar government done for its people?? said Gandhi.

Earlier, on Nov 1, Kumar said the Congress poster boy should first be a Chief Minister before he aspire to be a Prime Minister.

“First let him be a chief minister of any state, before he becomes a Prime Minister,” said Kumar in a tongue-in- cheek comment.

Gandhi recently opened a front with Nitish Kumar during his election campaign blaming the latter of not doing enough to develop the state in his tenure.

Gandhi said most of the development activities in the state were centrally funded.

The 243-member Bihar Assembly is undergoing a six-phased polls in Oct-Nov beginning with the first phase on Oct 21.

The fourth phase of polling was held on Monday.
