Ransom for Somali pirates seized
With the ransom to be paid to Somali pirates being confiscated by authorities, the fate of six Indian sailors onboard Egyptian ship MV Suez, is still uncertain.
The Somali security forces have confiscated the ransom amount of $3.6 million meant for the pirates at Mogadishu airport. However, the authorities declined to detail on where the plane came from with the ransom amount and who sent them.
Somali pirates hijacked two vessels MV Yuan Xiang and MV Suez last August in the Gulf of Aden.
Six Indian and six foreign sailors, including American, British and Kenyan nationals, have been detained.
Pakistan-based human rights campaigner Ansar Burney are negotiating with the pirates for the release of the sailors.
