Renaming Amethi

Decision of Mayawati government in UP to rename Amethi as Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Nagar is definitely politically motivated, and should be turned down by concerned authorities in Union Home Ministry. Chhatrapati Sahuji can be honoured by renaming some other district of the state, if it is so desired.

There are many places which are identified in hearts of public by their original name. Ever since personalities from Nehru-Gandhi family have selected Amethi as their constituency to contest Lok Sabha elections, Amethi has become one such name deep-rooted amongst people not only from India but even across the Globe all over the world. Amethi has become synonym with name of Rajiv Gandhi. Therefore if it is to be renamed, it should be renamed after Rajiv Gandhi. It is unfair that naming-system may be politically motivated.
