Two sisters, both in their 40s, were rescued on Tuesday from their homes in Noida, on the outskirts of Delhi, after they were found starving and dehydrated having not stepped out of their home in over six months, media reports said on Tuesday.
Anuradha and Sonali Bhal had to be carried out of their home in Noida?s sector 29 after worried neighbours called a local nongovernmental organisation and the police had to be called in to break in and rescue them.
They were moved to a hospital with internal bleeding. The elder sister Anuradha was said to be in a coma-like state and her condition was more critical than the Sonali who was relatively in a better state.
According to reports, police believe that the two sisters were mentally disturbed. They had lost their father a few years back and their only brother apparently moved out earlier this year having severed ties with them.
