Suresh Kalmadi remanded to police custody
A Delhi court on Tuesday remanded Suresh Kalmadi, sacked chief of Commonwealth Games (CWG) organising committee, to 8-day police custody in connection with the financial irregularities during the mega event.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sought a 14-day remand to interrogate Kalmadi on the Timer scam. The investigating agency claimed it has ?fresh evidences? against him.
The Patiala House court ordered an 8-day police remand of Kalmadi.
Kalmadi has arrested by the CBI on Monday under Sections 120 B and 420 (criminal conspiracy and cheating) of the Indian Penal Code in the CWG Time Scoring Equipment scam.
Hours after his arrest, the Congress MP from Pune was also sacked from party membership.
