Varanasi : Varun Gandhi is not single anymore. The young Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader on Sunday tied the knot with Yamini Roy, a Bengali graphic designer, in the holy town of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
In keeping with the Hindu customs and rituals, the son of late Sanjay Gandhi got married at the Shri Kashi Kaamkotishwar Temple in the morning.
Varun’s mother Maneka Gandhi said she was very happy with the union and more so since it was performed in Varanasi, the heart of India.
“We want all to bless the couple,” she said.
However, neither Sonia Gandhi or her son Rahul and Priyanka were present. He had invited his politically estranged aunt and cousins to the wedding.
Receptions are planned later, but reports said one in Delhi was cancelled owing to a death in the family.
Amteshwar Anand, Varun Gandhi?s grandmother and Maneka Gandhi?s mother, died last month.
Varun and his mother Maneka Gandhi are both lawmakers in Parliament from the BJP.
