Virbhadra threatens media, Congress apologizes
Shimla : Shimla/New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS) Irked over allegations of income tax evasion and money laundering, Himachal Pradesh Congress chief Virbhadra Singh threatened the media. The Congress apologized for his behaviour.
“I will break the cameras,” was the reaction of the five-time chief minister when journalists asked him about the allegations levelled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Dismissing the charges as “baseless”, he told TV news channels during campaigning in Kullu district Tuesday evening: “I will deal with all these issues after the election are over Nov 4.”
Calling it “unfortunate”, Congress spokesperson Sandeep Dikshit said in New Delhi: “If anyone is hurt, we apologize. He should not have spoken like this.
“But sometimes in the midst of election campaign such things happen under mental pressure.”
The BJP said Singh must answer all questions related to money laundering against him.
BJP leader Arun Jaitley Tuesday accused Singh in Shimla of bribery, money laundering and forgery and demanded a probe by a special investigating team.
