Will open door for youth in politics: Rahul Gandhi

Bhopal : All India Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, a poster boy of young politicians, on Wednesday said he would fight to bring the younger generation in politics, ducking yet once a question on taking over as the prime minister of the country.

Rahul Gandhi told a press conference here: ?Seventy percent of Indians are youth. In our political system, the youth, unfortunately cannot enter politics easily. The doors are closed. My aim is to open that door.?

?Sooner we open the door, sooner you get a youth Prime Minister,? he said, replying on his chances of becoming the Prime Minister.

To a question of the same issue, Gandhi said: ?There is a far efficient Prime Minister there [Manmohan Singh]. I am with youth Congress.?

?I think the most important job is to bring the youth to the politics. I am an individual, it is not important. What is important is the youth of the country,? he said.

?I will try my bit to ensure that the youth voice is heard in Indian politics,? he said.

Rahul Gandhi is on a three-day Madhya Pradesh tour in connection with organisational elections for Youth Congress.

He said earlier that he would not tolerate any kind of fundamentalism in the party.
