Withdrawing bofors case
Opposition BJP has no justification in criticising Union government for withdrawing 23-years old case against Ottavio Quattrocchi in infamous Bofors case, because the case could not be moved an inch further even in regimes of Janta Party or National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the years 1977 and 1999 respectively. Opposition always used ghost of Bofors only as an election-stunt to defame Gandhi-family, with no sincere intentions to unfold the truth behind the defence-deal. Neither VP Singh nor Atal Bihari Vajpayee as Prime Ministers acted seriously to bring Bofors-truth in promised 100 days of taking charge. Rather the then Defence Minister George Fernandes is on record to reveal that the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee did not permit him to touch Bofors-files, a fact which George hided when he was Defence Minister.
Role of CBI should be made uncontroversial by picking CBI director with consensus amongst Prime Minister and Opposition Leader.
