Man wanted for eight murders escapes

A suspected rapist and killer of eight women escaped from a police lock-up hours after being arrested in Mexico state, officials said.

Cesar Armando Librado Legorreta was detained Monday and escaped from a police lock-up a few hours later, the Federal District Attorney’s Office said.

Librado Legorreta escaped from the police station in Tlalnepantla city where he was being held.

The suspect, a bus driver, was arrested Monday for the Oct 27, 2011, murder of a 17-year-old girl on a downtown Mexico City street.

Librado Legorreta was also charged with seven murders committed in Mexico state, prosecutors said.

The suspect “acted very friendly (with his victims) and offered to take them to their destination even if it was outside his route, raping and later killing them on the microbus once he had them alone”, the DA’s office said.

Librado Legorreta strangled his victims using a wrestling hold, prosecutors said.
