Indonesian train clash toll mount to 43
Jakarta : A train to train crash in central Indonesia on Saturday perished 43 commuters and wounded an unspecified people, police,rescuers and witnesses said.
The casualty will go up as many bodies still rem inedtrapped in the mangled wreckage in the accident at a station in Petarukan, a city on the northern coast of Central Java province at around 3 a.m, when most of the passengers were sleeping.
A train from the capital, Jakarta, hit another from behind parked on a platform,causing severe damage to both.
Police said so far 43 people counted were dead and another 50 wounded, majority of them critically.
A latest report said another passenger train crashed in the town of Solo at around 4 am, but details were not given immediately.
An unconfirmed report said one person had died in the latest crash.
“We’re still investigating to see if it was due to negligence of the driver or because signaling equipment on one of the trains was faulty,” an official said about the first accident.
