Three dead in Myanmar quake

At least three people died in a 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar early Sunday.

The tremor occurred around 7.30 a.m. Of the three victims, two died in Sagaing region, while one was killed in Mandalay region, Xinhua reported.

About 30 people were injured. Four more were missing after an under-construction river-crossing bridge collapsed.

A number of school buildings, houses and pagodas in Sagaing, Shwebo, Kyauk Myaung, Mandalay, Amarapura and Tabaitgine, among other areas, were damaged.

The epicentre was in Tabaitgine, about 130 km from Mandalay city.

Two moderate aftershocks were also recorded.

The neighbouring Dehong prefecture of China and Thai capital Bangkok also experienced the tremor.
