10 hurt in fight at China plant

More than 10 people were injured when a fight broke out among workers at a Foxconn plant, the world’s largest maker of computer components, in China, police said Monday.

The fight started at 11 p.m. Sunday in the plant’s dormitory in Shanxi province, drawing a large crowd of spectators and triggering chaos, said a spokesperson from the public security bureau.

Around 5,000 policemen were sent to the scene. The situation was brought under control Monday, reported Xinhua.

Foxconn faced criticism over harsh working conditions two years ago after a string of suicides by Chinese factory employees.

The company currently has about 1 million employees in China.
