20 killed in Pakistan car bomb in Faisalabad

At least 20 people were killed and over 100 others injured in a car explosion at a CNG station in the central Pakistani city of Faisalabad on Tuesday.

Police said the target was an Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) office near the blast spot. The explosive-laden car was parked at the CNG station as the attackers could not get further closer to the target.

The area houses several other important government offices, including office of state-run Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and an army recruiting centre, and is a heavily guarded one.

The blast went off at about 11.30 am and almost completed destroyed the CNG station and caused extensive damage to several nearby buildings and cars.

Twenty people have been confirmed killed in the explosive, police said, adding that casualty figure could go up.

Over 100 others were hurt, who were rushed to nearby hospitals.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
