35 killed in funeral attack in Pakistan

At least 35 people were killed and scores other injured in a suicide attack by suspected Talibans in a funeral prayer here in northwest Pakistan on Wednesday.

The explosion took place in Peshawar’s Adezai area, according to Geo News.

Adezai is a historic village where a pro-government militia- Aman Lashkar- was combating the Talibans.

Police said the bomber was among the members of the congregation of over 200 people attending funeral prayers for the wife of a known anti-Taliban militiaman.

At least 35 people have been confirmed killed so far, while over 50 others have been injured.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has condemned the incident and reiterated the government’s “resolve to root out the cancer of terrorism from every nook and corner of the country” in a statement.
