Two injured in Karachi blast near Chinese consulate

Two people were injured when a bomb exploded near the Chinese consulate in Karachi’s upmarket Clifton area Monday.

The blast took place around 11.30 a.m.

The bomb was fitted on a motorbike parked near a road barrier set up in front of the consulate, Xinhua quoted media reports as saying.

One of the injured was a member of a paramilitary force.

A consulate staff said no Chinese were injured in the attack. Two vehicles were damaged.

A bomb disposal squad said about eight to 10 kg of explosives were used to trigger the blast.

Clifton area is where former Pakistani president Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s mansion is located.
