Five killed in Pakistan passenger train blast

Islamabad  :  At least five people were killed and 15 injured when a train track was blown up in Pakistan’s Balochistan province Monday, media reports said.

The blast took place around 9.30 a.m. when Jaffar Express train was on its way from Quetta, capital of Balochistan, to Rawalpindi city, reported Xinhua.

Four compartments of the train derailed following the blast.

Earlier, media reports said it was a rocket attack, but railway police later confirmed it was a blast caused by a bomb planted on the rail track, which was detonated by a remote-control device.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the site after the explosion and the victims were rushed to hospital.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
