Wahab Riaz to be interrogated by SY: PCB
Lahore : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday said another cricketer from the country-Wahab Riaz- will appear before Scotland Yard (SY) in connection with the ongoing match fixing scandal involving players from Pakistan, media reports here said.
PCB chairman Ijaz Butt, who faced a hostile home crowd on his return to Lahore Wednesday, told reporters in Lahore that the fast bowler would be quizzed by the British police on Sept 14.
Riaz would be the fourth player to be questioned by the Scotland Yard after the tainted Pakistani trio of Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamir.
He said the three players- tainted in the scandal after London-based The News of the World expose- would be back to Pakistan in a few days.
The three players were also suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and charged with offences under its anti-corruption code.
Cricket world around the world was stunned by the British tabloid sting operation on London-based Mazhar Majeed, revealing involvement of Pakistani cricketers in spot fixing and match fixing.
