David Headley has many faces: Rana wife

David Coleman Headley, the 26/11 Pakistani-American conspirator now testifying in a US court in the trial of his friend and suspect Tahawwur Hussain Rana, is a many of many faces and a liar, alleged the wife of Rana.

As the trial of Rana, who is accused of supporting Headley in the Mumbai attack planning, began in a Chicago court, his wife Samraz Rana in an interview to NDTV said Headley she knew was a different man.

Calling what Headley is saying in court as “lies”, Samraz Rana said: “Whatever he [Headley] is saying, he is saying to save his life. I know my husband, I am married to him for last 21 years.”

“As a friend of my husband I knew him. But this is very shocking this is not the person I know. He was different. I dont know he has like so many faces. Now we know what he has done,” she said.

Headley had stayed with the family of Rana for quite sometime during the planning of the Mumbai attack.

“When we heard about it [Mumbai attack] we were shocked. We wept. It was shocking news for us that time. We have our families in India,” she said.

“I don’t have to defend him [Rana] because…. why we have this court.. court is going to prove that he [Headley] is a liar. I know my husband, that he is innocent. I love him. I know nothing about him [Headley]. I cannot say anything about Headley,” she said.

Headley, a conspirator of the Nov 2008 attack on India?s financial capital that killed over 160 people, including six Americans, testified against his former schoolmate Rana who allegedly provided logistical support during his [ Headley’s] recon missions.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Streicker said that the 50-year-old Rana provided cover for Headley by helping him pose as a representative for his Chicago-based immigration business while Headley took photos and videos of targets in Mumbai.

Rana’s attorneys have portrayed Headley as a master manipulator who tricked his friend.

David Coleman Headley on Monday in the Chicago court spilled the beans on Pakistan’s military spy agency Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) saying it provided financial and military support to terrorists behind the Mumbai attack.

He also admitted that Pakistan-based Hafiz Saeed, the leader of the Jama’at-ud-Da’wah, a frontal organization of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, motivated him in the Mumbai attack planning.
