Deaf Expo 2010 to be held in Delhi

A non-governmental organisation will be hosting an international conference here that will focus on technologies and educational aids for people with hearing disabilities in the country.

The second International Deaf Expo 2010 will be organised by the NGO, Deaf leaders (Deaf Empowerment Activities For Literacy Education Accessible Development, Employment, Rehabilitation & Sports) in association with The God Action, New Delhi.

Hosting over 500 people who will take part in the events, the exposition will have leading educationalists are a part of the advisory committee, the organisers said.

Even with about 10 million deaf and about 40 million people who are hard of hearing, little is being done for their education, employment and rights and this conference will act as an opportunity for their betterment, the organisers said in a media release.

The expo, which will be held between Dec 13 and 15 here, will also offer opportunities to educators, inventors and businessmen to showcase their products in exhibitions.

A beauty pageant — Miss India Deaf Contest — will also be organised in conjunction with the expo during Dec 13 to 17, the organisers said.
