Santiniketan : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has ‘other things’ to do than just becoming the Prime Minister.
“Becoming PM is not the only job a person can do. There are many other things to do than becoming the PM,” the Congress poster boy said while replying to students of Santiniketan on his future ambitions on Tuesday.
“Becoming PM is not the only job a person can do. There are many other things to do than becoming PM,” he added.
His visit also whipped up a controversy with West Bengal’s ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist students’ arm, Student Federation of India (SFI), questioning the ‘unnecessary importance’ accorded to the young leader who, it said, had no ‘locus standii’ as far as the University was concerned.
”Who is Rahul Gandhi? How is he related to the university? He does not hold any post in the university or in the government. He is a mere MP,” SFI district secretary Debarshi Dutta reportedly said.
”Why should the University ask him to open an exhibition? Why should he be given so much importance?” Dutta commented.
Rahul Gandhi also inaugurated an exhibition titled ‘Three Chancellors – Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi’.
The exhibition, organised by the University, consists of photographs and correspondence of the three late prime ministers who visited Santiniketan as the University’s chancellors.
Gandhi also exchanged greetings with students of Patha Bhavan school.
