Popular social networking site Facebook has been slapped with a police complaint for hosting an ?I hate Gandhi? group.
Reports on Tuesday said that an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Amitabh Thakur, has lodged the FIR against Facebook on charges of trying to malign the image of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
The complaint was reportedly lodged on Monday at the Gomti Nagar police station in Uttar Pradesh against Facebook and those who run the group, including Rahul Devgan, Gaurab Banerjee, Rohan Shinde, Shikshit Kumar, Gadadhar Ghoshal, Deven Tandan and Vignesh NV.
Thakur has alleged that the ?I hate Grandhi? group portrayed Mahatma Gandhi in a derogatory manner and abusive language was used against the leader.
The FIR has been lodged under section 153 (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of communities and other grounds), 153 A (imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration), 153 B (public nuisance), 290 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 504 (criminal intimidation) 506 and 66 A IT Act (using Information Technology for these purposes).
