Sony VAIO SVE11115ENB/W/P (11.6″) Laptop Review

Sony VAIO SVE11115ENB/N/P (Last digit for Color. I.e. B for Black, W for White and P for Pink Color) is mini screen laptop (11.6″) for the one who wants to travel lot and wants to have light weight, stylist laptop. Here is specification and my review for this laptop.

About Operating System & Processor

It has AMD E2-1800 Accelerated Processor 1.7GHz, AMD A68M FCH, 1 MB (L2 Cache) which is more than enough for web surfing and do basic tasks at home like content editing, viewing media gallery, watching movies (even laptop allows you to run heavy application but it takes much time to run but can do your job.).

This model comes up with Windows 7 Home Basic and many pre-installed applications like Media Gallery, Adobe Flash Player 11, Sony VAIO’s home applications like VAIO Gate, VAIO Gesture Control. Somehow I feel that nowadays all laptops comes with Latest version of Windows even latest version of Windows can make system slow. I feel same for this. Window XP may run faster in this system but Window 7 makes system slow sometime because of heaviness of Window 7.

Window Experience Index score for this laptop is 3.9 because of low score of processor (3.9) while all other components were in range of 4 to 5.

When I Even Sony’s Home Application uses more resources and thats why I have disabled Sony VAIO Gate to run on start up.

Memory :

SVE11115EN (B/W/P) has 320 GB serial ATA Hard Disks with 5400 rpm (enough for home use) and 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM. We can upgrade up to 8 GB with 1 unused slot. (I am thinking to do now.)

About Display, Camera & Sound:

SVE11115EN laptop has 11.6″ (29.5 cms) screen with (WXGA: 1366×768 resolution), TFT color display. If you are using 15″ or 17″ computer then you need some time to adjust with this small screen. Display is normal and enough for any one to surf websites and do their work. I saw few movies in this laptop and i am happy with resolution display.

(Model has AMD Radeon™ HD 7340 Internal graphics card)

xLoud Speakers are ok. I say not good, not bad speakers comparing with laptops in same price ranges.

I am impressed with camera, Its HD Web Camera with 1.3 MP. It gives good picture quality while doing video chat.

Because of VAIO Gesture Control, You can do next, previous, play/pause by hand gestures for image gallery and music/video applications. You can reduce/increase volume by rotating your hand in front of camera.

Keyboard & Trackpad :

Keyboard is compact and comfortable to me. Trackpad takes multi-gestures and it can help you with two fingers scroll, three fingers Back, zoom and rotate.

Look & Interface

I feel Laptop is very compact (290.0 x 23.5-31.5 x 203.5 mm). It just weight 1.5 Kg. Easy to move here and there especially for girls. It has 2 USB 2.0 port and 1 USB 3.0 port, 1 headphone port, 1 microphone port, 1 HDMI Port, SD Memory card slot, 1 power supply port and 1 Network port.

It takes nearly 1 to 2 Hours to recharge Battery in sleep mode and it can be used for 4 Hours.

Price :

Laptop costs around 27, 500 Rs in India. You may get better deal in any mall or store where they can give some discounts, free EMI and accessories kit (having mouse, all in one card reader, cleaning kit, etc.).

Overall, I am happy with this laptop because of price, compactness and light weight. If you want laptop for simple work and size does matter for frequent traveling and just want to carry laptop in your small bag and want to check your mails. This is for you.
