Asiad: Virdhawal Khade fails to qualify for final

Guangzhou : India’s Virdhawal Khade, who gave the country its first swimming medal in Asian Games, won his 100m freestyle heats, but failed to qualify for the final round here on Wednesday.

Khade, who won the 50m butterfly bronze on Tuesday, clocked 51.25sec to top the 100m freestyle heats while his compatriot Aaron Agnel Dsouza finished second by clocking 52.71sec.on Wednesday.

In the men’s 200m individual medley, Rehan Poncha failed to qualify for the finals after finishing sixth in the heats with a timing of 2:08.55sec.
