Bronze for Harika Dronavalli in Asian Games chess

Guangzhou : India’s Harika Dronavalli won the bronze medal in the women’s individual chess at the Asian Games here on Tuesday.

The gold went to Chinese top seed Grand Master Hou Yifan, while her compatriot Grand Master Zhao Xue got the silver.

Harika scored 6.5 points with five wins, three draws and one loss. Grand Master Yifan won eight rounds and drew one and had a score of 8.5 points while Xue won seven matches, drew one and lost one to finish with 7.5 points.

Another Indian women in fray, Tania Sachdev could earn only 5.5 points with five wins, one draw and three losses, to finish on sixth position.
