CFL: Mohammedan Sporting vs Chirag United 2-2

Kolkata : Mohammedan Sporting came twice from behind to hold Chirag United 2-2 at the Sahara Calcutta Football League (CFL) at Yuba Bharati Krirangan (YBK) here on Saturday.

I-Leauge side Chirag United moved ahead from Denson Debdas’ goal on 23 minutes, which was equalised by Md Sporting’s Dipendu Biswas 13 minutes later from a header 1-1.

After the breather, Subrata Bhattacharya’s side surged ahead for the second time from Junior Elija’s goal within six minutes, but the lead was negated again by Biswas ten minutes later.

This time the former international striker converted a penalty to lead the black-and-white snatch a point and maintain the 4th place after fourteen games in the 17-team competition.

After East Bengal 2-0 win over Mohun Bagan at YBK on Friday, the red-and-gold became new champions dethroning the mariners after a gap of three years.

Now place for third and remaining position is to be decided.

Md Sporting are now on 26 points and CU on 25 after 14 encounters.

Mohun Bagan held the second place with 37 points with one game in hand, followed by Techo Aryan 28 points from 12 games.
