CWG: Indian archers fail to impress
Indian archers failed to impress as only four archers-two men and two women (all recurve section)- could make it to the quarter finals of the individual events at the ongoing Commonweath Games (CWG) here on Tuesday.
Out of the twelve Indian archers, six in recurve and six in compound, who were in the fray, only Jayanta Talukdar and Rahul Banerjee (men section ) and veteran Dola Banerjee and Deepika kumari ( women section) could advance to the last eight stage.
In the pre-quarter final of individual recurve Dola Banerjee defeated Sui Kim Ng of Malaysia.
Dola scored 161 against 155 by Sui. In the other pre-quarter final, promising Indian woman archer Deepika Kumari beat Tan Wendy Liu Jie from Singapore 110-92.
In the pre-quarter final of individual recurve for men, Jayanta Talukdar got the better of C Constant of Cyprus 166 ? 157, while Rahul Banerjee, brother of Dola Banerjee, beat Sheik Sojeb 112- 106.
