An Indian athlete has been tested positive for a banned substance at the Commonwealth Games, Mike Fennell, Games Federation chief, said on Wednesday.
The track and field athlete has tested positive for the banned steroid nandrolone, he added.
The Indian was the third to have failed a dope test at the games. Two Nigerian runners were caught for the banned stimulant Methylhexaneamine, with Osayomi Oludamola being stripped of her gold medal in the women’s 100-meter race.
Hurdler Samuel Okon also tested positive.
Fennell said he would not name the athlete because he was not sure the person has been notified of the positive result. “All we can tell you is it is in the sport of athletics and the country is India.”
