Nigerian Oludamola stripped of gold

Natasha Mayers of St. Vincent & the Grenadines was awarded the women 100 metre
gold as Nigerian sprinter Osayemi Oludamola has been officially stripped of her gold she won in the event.

Oludamula’s B sample has also tested positive.

An official release Tuesday night said the “result of the doping test of Oludamola?s B sample has been received and it confirmed the result of A sample test which was positive for the prohibited substance methylhexaneamine on Oct 7 last.

The release said the gold medal for the women 100 metre would now be awarded to Natasha Mayers of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the silver to Katherine Endacott of England and bronze to fourth placed winner Bertille Delphine of Cameroon.

The jurisdiction of CGF relates only to the period of the Games. In accordance with the Anti Doping System, the documents pertaining to Oludamola have now been referred to IAAF for whatever subsequent action it might consider appropriate, the release added.

According to the release, B sample of another Nigerian athlete Samuel Okon has also tested positive and he has been disqualified from the ongoing Games and all his competition results will be nullified. Okon, however, did not win any medal here.
