London : British diver Peter Waterfield, who had won gold medal in Mancheter Games 2002, pulled out from Delhi’s Commonwealth Games citing health concerns.
The 29-year-old ten-metre platform specialist had also bagged a silver in the last edition in Melbourne said, ” I have attended two Commonwealth Games and three Olympic Games in the past so I always knew that the living conditions would be basic, but I do not want to put myself at risk in Delhi.”
Waterfield, had won a silver in the 2004 Athens Olympics in synchronising diving, said “my family comes first to me”.
“I have a wife and two young children who were very concerned about me attending the event and this decision is one that we have made as a family”.
