Ashish Nehra out of final: TV reports

The Indian cricket team received a severe jolt to their preparation for the final as one of the main strike bowlers of India, Ashish Nehra has been ruled out of the final World Cup encounter against Sri Lanka on Saturday, media reports said.

Nehra has been ruled out of the final match against Sri Lanka due to a finger injury that he suffered while fielding during the World Cup semi-final match against Pakistan at Mohali on Wednesday, media reports said.

Nehra is likely to undergo an operation for this injury and is also likely to miss few matches of the Indian Premiere League that will commence few days after the conclusion of World Cup on Saturday.

The Indian left arm seam bowler played a crucial role on Wednesday night at Mohali where India defeated arch-rival Pakistan in a high voltage World Cup semi-final clash to move to the final, where they will play against another Sri Laka on Apr 2.

On the other hand the Sri Lankan tent is also facing similar problems as spinner Muttiah Muralitharan and all-rounder Angelo Mathews who are suffering from injury related troubles, media reports said.

While Muralitharan is suffering from hamstring and knee injury, the talented Sri Lankan all rounder, Angelo Matthews has still not recovered from a side strain that he suffered during the important World Cup semi-final match against New Zealand on Tuesday, reports said.

The Sri Lankan team is said to have called up spinner Suraj Randiv and experienced fast bowler Chaminda Vaas as back up for the two injured players.
