As Yuvraj Singh basks in the towering glory of his world cup feat and earned the player of the tournament honour, mother Shabnam Singh batted for the golden boy of Indian cricket and reveals that a search is on to find a life partner for the boy.
Speaking to a TV channel on Sunday, she said Yuvraj Singh has always been written about for his link ups with the girls, but never for his religious bearing and humility.
The proud mom also revealed how a search is on to find the right girl for the most suitable boy of Indian cricket.
“He went to the temples, listened to his guruji and was always so hardworking and honest. But media only wrote when he speaks to a girl. Press portrayed him in a wrong way,” said the mother who took sleeping pills during the tournament to catch some sleep because of her tension.
“He wants to be the big game player,” she said, adding that Yuvraj told her that he wants to win the Cup for India’s cricketing god, Sachin Tendulkar, who Yuvi felt achieved so much but never experienced the joy of winning a world cup.
Admitting that the family is looking for a girl to get him married, she said: “He has to find an understanding girl. We are definitely looking for a girl who understands cricket. It can be love, it can be arranged.”
“I am so proud of him,” she said, informing that the cricketer did not sleep last night and had called her in the morning.
Yuvraj was the unanimous choice of a select group of experts following his sensational form that helped guide his side to the title before an adoring home crowd.
The 29-year-old batted eight innings in the tournament, scoring a total of 362 at an average of 86.19.
He also took 15 wickets at an average of 25.13 and an economy-rate of 5.02 with his more-than-useful slow left-arm bowling.
