We are the firm favourites, says Mahendra Singh Dhoni

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni feels that his team has the ability to win the cricket World Cup at home.

“We won’t be considered as underdogs this time. The team has learnt to perform under pressure and we have done so in the past three years. We have changed the meaning of pressure to responsibility.

“Cricket is the biggest sport in India and we are looking at the tournament in a positive way. We are just going to stick to our basics and hope that we do well. We definitely have the potential,” said Dhoni during a media interaction here Tuesday.

Asked about the possible backlash if the team fails, Dhoni said: “We are not thinking about what may happen because those things are beyond our control. There is a lot of cricket ahead of us and we are going to take each game in the right frame of mind. We hope that we can do well at the tournament.”

On the long schedule, Dhoni said schedule is not in the players hands and each team need to just focus on their game since it’s a big event.
