Rajasthan Royals termination stay upheld by HC

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday upheld the six-week stay on the termination of IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR).

The court ruling will thus enable the team to take part in the IPL 4 auction on Jan 8 and 9, media reports said.

The termination order for RR from the Indian Premier League (IPL) had been stayed by six weeks by arbitrator Justice B N Srikrishna earlier.

Royals, which had won the inaugural IPL, had moved the Bombay High Court after they were axed by the Board of Control for Cricket in
India (BCCI) over the team’s ownership pattern.

BCCI had terminated the agreement with RR on Oct 10, saying it had changed the shareholding pattern without informing either the Board or the IPL governing council.
