Rib-injury rules out Jacques Kallis for two weeks
South Africa suffered a big set-back as all-rounder Jacques Kallis was been ruled out for two weeks due to a bruised rib and a strained muscle on the right side of his chest.
“Jacques took a blow to the side of the chest and has a contusion on the right rib with an accompanying muscle strain. He will definitely bat if needed to in the second innings but won’t take the field when India bat,” team manager Mohammed Moosajee said on Tuesday.
“A recovery time of two weeks (is expected) and he will probably miss the first two one-day internationals. If he aggravates it, it could stretch to four,” he said.
Kallis, who hit his 39th Test century, was hit on the chest by a Sreesanth delivery during his marathon 161 that took South Africa to 362.
