Wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin has been ruled out of the first three One-Day Internationals against Australia, after sustaining a fractured finger during a practice game at 3Ws Oval here Saturday.
The Trinidadian was struck by a delivery while batting and immediately left the field accompanied by captain Darren Sammy.
Ramdin, who had been appointed vice-captain, will head back to his native Trinidad to start rehabilitation.
“He is expected to be out for a minimum of two weeks. A new vice-captain will be named in the coming days,” a West Indies Cricket Board release said.
Only recently, Ramdin split the webbing on his hand during Trinidad and Tobago’s four-day match against Barbados.
Carlton Baugh, currently involved in Jamaica’s fifth round Regional four-day clash with Trinidad and Tobago in Port of Spain, has been called up to replace Ramdin.
West Indies are set to leave for St Vincent Monday for the ODIs scheduled for March 16, 18 and 20.
