Delaying of NOC harms Preparations of Commonwealth Games

Islamabad/Pakistan: Ministry of Interior is playing delaying tactics for the issuance of NOC to Ministry of Sports regarding the visit of foreign teams of Boxing to Pakistan for the preparation of Commonwealth Games 2010.

Pakistan Boxing Federation has organized International training Camp in Pakistan Sports Complex for the preparation of Commonwealth Games. This camp has been started from 15 August last month but only Sri lankan pugilists have reached Pakistan so far.

Spokesman for Ministry for Sports Faik Ali said that Ministry had written letter to Ministry of Interior for the NOC but we have not received any response yet.

?We have Invited 8 teams for the ongoing joint training camp but only one team from sri-lanka has arrived in Pakistan for the preparation of Commonwealth games while rest of the teams will come after the issuance of NOC from Ministry of Interior?. He said

Teams from Uganda,Central African Republic, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nigeria and Rwanda are due to participate in the ongoing training camp at Pakistan Sports complex.

Faik Ali said that? after the issuance? of NOC? from Ministry of Interior? it will become responsibility? of the Government to arrange?? proper security for Foreign teams? to avoid any untoward incident? and Ministry of Sports? will also do logistics arrangements? for? foreign players, when NOC is? issued.

?We are waiting for their reply, so that we may start legal documentation for the foreign teams?. Spokesman said

Sources in Pakistan Boxing Federation said that delaying in the issuance of NOC is the negligence of Ministry officials and that thing may harm the preparations of Commonwealth Games.

?The main goal of conducting the joint boxing camp is to provide effectively competitive training in line with international standards to rising pugilists of the country. ?This camp will continue till 24 September this month?. Sources said

Commonwealth Games will start from 3 October next month in Indian Capital, New Delhi. Pakistani Contingent will also participate in the mega event of the South Asia.
