Sania-Vesnina moves into Quarter Final

Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza and her doubles partner Elena Vesnina registered a seat in the Quater Final of the Women’s doubles event of the French Open on Sunday.

The Indo-Russian pair defeated the Spanish pair of Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez and Anabel Medina Garrigues by 6-1, 6-4 margin to reach the Quarter Final level of the high profile tennis event on Sunday.

Sania and her Russian partner will now meet top seeded Gisela Dulko of Brazil and Italian Flavia Pennetta in the Quarter Final round.

Dulko and Pennetta had defeated the Italian pair of Sarra Errani and Roberta Vinci by 6-4, 6-2 in their third round match.

On the other hand, Indian Tennis icon Mahesh Bhupathi and his mixed doubles partner Jie Zheng of China lost to Australian Rennae Stubbs and Brazilian Marcelo Melo in the second round of the Mixed Doubles event.

The Indo-China pair were defeated by 6-4, 3-6, 7-10 margin.
