Somdev exits from Miami Open

The hopes of young Indian tennis icon Somdev Dev Varman received a severe blow at the Miami Open on Sunday night as he was defeated by Spanish sixth-seed David Ferrer.

The Indian tennis star was defeated by 6-4, 6-2 margin in the Sunday encounter with his opponent in the third round.

By defeating Somdev Dev Varman, Ferrer cruised into the fourth round of the Miami Masters.

Meanwhile, former world number one, Roger Federer created history as he equaled Pete Sampras as both now have 762 singles victory in their name.

Federer achieved this feat by defeating Radek Stepanek of Czech Republic by 6-3, 6-3 margin at the same tournament.

Jimmy Connors of U.S. is the leader in the list with 1,242 wins, much ahead of Federer.
